Benefits and Q & A of using Haring Labs Active Emission Reduction Technology.
How does the system reduce the emissions.
In practice it is a very simple solution, The basics.
Engines in general only use 30 – 40% of there fuel for work, the rest goes out the exhaust as un-burnt fuel and heat.
Our process takes hydrogen and oxygen made by on board electrolysis, “hydrogen Generator(s)” no tanks or storage.
Our proprietary computer and software reads the engine load and injects using a pulse width modulated hydrogen injector a preset amount of hydrogen and oxygen to the combustion process threw the intake manifold or plumbing just before it.
The process takes place in real time, there is no lag of hydrogen injection to engine load making the detonation phase highly effective. this is a part of the efficiency of the system.
The hydrogen/Oxygen combination acts basically as a catalyst that helps strip down the fuel molecules in the combustion phase and burning the fuel load more completely.
Burning the fuel more completely leads to fuel efficiency, low emissions, cleaner oil and a cooler running engine
How do you set the system up.
After installation of the system, we use a 5 gas analyzers to match the optimal amount of hydrogen and oxygen to engine load points. Setting each point until the analyzer shows optimal emission reduction, tier III standards. Once all points are programmed they are saved to the system and it will meet these targets every time the engine runs, from idle threw wide open throttle. All this can be monitored, managed and adjusted if desired, threw our touch screen monitors / management system, or threw web browsers, phone app, and tablets.
Does the engine really run cooler.
Yes, some engines more than others, we have seen 1 – 3 degree cooler operating temperatures.
some of this is due to a hysteresis effect that takes place on the re combing of the hydrogen and oxygen creating a cooling effect over the top of the piston. Along with less carbon buildup on the heads and valves heat can be transfer out of the engine more effectively.
It’s more or less a added free benefit from using this type of system, we would of like to take credit for this, but, it wasn’t something we designed, we just noted the effect during tests.
How does the engine oil stay cleaner longer.
Again this is something we would like to take Partial credit for, but it to, is an effect of running fuel that is being more thoroughly burnt. The carbon doesn’t build up on the heads, valves and pistons and making its way into the lubrication system. Less carbon cleaner oil.
All part of making a engine emission compliant using hydrogen and oxygen.
Do I get lower fuel consumption.
Yes, Because of the raised efficiency of the fuel burn you will see a decrease in the fuel you use
depending on engine type, set up, and fuel type we have seen 10 – 30% consumption decrease.
Can the system damage my engine.
No, be cause the hydrogen and oxygen is only being used as a catalyst in a precisely metered injection into the engine, and not being used to drive the engine or replace the original fuel, the operator will reap the benefits of the system with out any risk to the engine or engine components.
Does the system remove my warranties.
No, by law, Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act, and the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) of the automobile aftermarket which was formed in 1963 by Roy Richter, Willie Garner, Bob Hedman, Robert E. Wyman, John Bartlett, Phil Weiand, Jr., Al Segal, Dean Moon, and Vic Edelbrock, Jr. and now consists of 6,383 companies worldwide, bringing together aftermarket manufacturers, original equipment manufacturers (OEM), media, car dealers, specialty equipment distributors, installers, retailers and restoration specialists.
Because the system is non intrusive nor are there modifications made to the engine, the engine manufacturer must support there warranty.
No different than installing a programmer, or particulate scrubber that is not made by the engine manufacturer.
Is there a lot of maintenance involved.
No, Compared to the alternatives on the market, this system is extremely low maintenance, The system can be visually inspected on the routine engine maintenance schedule. add distilled water to the water reservoir container during this period.
Although the system is very low maintenance and has diagnostics visible and audible via the touchscreen display, it is a good practice to visually check all equipment for unexpected problems on a routine schedule.
Is the system intrusive into my engine.
No, the basic system only requires a ¼” hole access either into the plumbing prior to the intake manifold or by installing a base plate with the fitting in it and connecting it between the intake manifold and plumbing connecting to the intake manifold.
Does the system take long to install.
No, the system comes pre-charged and ready to operate, finding a appropriate location for the system and mounting it will be will be the biggest consumer of time, typically on a semi 30 – 60 minutes for a installation depending on operators specs.
The systems come in there own stainless steel enclosures that are mountable in various configurations.
We can also provide custom mounting systems for different applications.
Does the hydrogen hurt or deteriorate rings, gaskets, pistons and other parts.
There is also a term people refer to incorrectly as Hydrogen embrittlement, this is the process by which metals such as steel become brittle and fracture due to the introduction and subsequent diffusion of hydrogen into the metal. This is often a result of accidental introduction of hydrogen during forming and finishing operations ( Manufacturing processes, welding and electroplating)
The answer is NO, the hydrogen introduced into the engine will not effect any aspect of the engine ware process.
For the simpler aspects, to low concentration, not enough time, not a corrosive element, mixes with fuel charge immediately on injection, not in a liquid state.
Very safe and non intrusive to engine parts.
